Job Summary:
The Payment Posting Representative is responsible for the timely and accurate entry of payer remittance and claims processing response data into the billing system.  As a key member of the Revenue Management Team, you will assist with tracking, recording and balancing cash receipts against bank deposits, electronic fund transfer notifications, credit cards and lockbox receipts.  You will also:
  • Receive remittance advices and other payment documentation via e-mail, lockbox and clearinghouse website.
  • Download electronic remittance advice from clearinghouse website, reviews file and ensures accurate posting to patient service items.
  • Manually enter payments, allowable and adjustments amounts into the billing system.
  • Assist with the collection and recording of payor response data for review, analysis, and ongoing business planning.
  • Balance and reconcile all postings in the billing system with remittance documents and deposit information.
  • Maintain spreadsheets and documents that support tracking and reconciliation of cash receipts or otherwise support the operations of the department.
  • Follow up on cash receipt issues as necessary.
  • Escalate discrepancies in information that result in a delay of payment entry or errors in the system.
  • Scan all remittance documentation and uploads into the billing system/image control system (ICS).
  • File paper copies according to department procedures.
  • Performs other duties and work on special projects as necessary to support the operations of the Revenue Management - Third Party Billing

 Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year of related experience.
  • Experience with cash posting in a healthcare or medical practice environment, preferred.
  • Experience working with NextGen and MediSoft is helpful.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of ICD-9/CPT codes, Medicare, Medicaid, and third party billing.
