ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  • Perform assessment of supplies and equipment for procedures as required by surgeon’s preference card.
  • Demonstrate appropriate skill and knowledge to set up an operating room with proper equipment and instrumentation for a specific procedure.
  • Notify the circulator of any equipment or supplies that may be missing or in need of repair.
  • Practice cost containment by opening only minimal supplies necessary for procedure.
  • Prepare patients and set up rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment; open sterile supplies and arrange sterile setups for operations.
  • Perform office tests and administrative duties.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education:

 

·       High School Diploma or equivalent

·       Graduate from Surgical Technician program

·       Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

·       Surgical Technologist Certification preferred

 

Experience:

 

·       One (1) to Three (3) years of CVOR Tech experience

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

·       Excellent communication (written and verbal), listening and interpersonal skills.

·       Demonstrate human relation skills with the ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, team members and physicians. Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively with others.

·       Excellent organization, prioritization and problem-solving skills.

·       Demonstrate time management skills with an ability to multi-task and prioritize in an environment with frequent interruptions.

·       Demonstrate coordination, collaboration, delegation and team building skills.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential duties of this job, which may vary by location.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions: 

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist and lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
  • Carry up to 40 lbs. in a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Position requires use of foot pedals on carts or machines.
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
  • Operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
