The
Successful Candidate
· This
training class will be based in Nashville. You will be expected to
relocate to Nashville for the first 4-6 months of training. You will be
expected to pay for your own housing while in Nashville. Relocation
reimbursement will be allotted.
· You
will travel to different markets while in the second phase of training.
· The
salary is $35,000 annually and is not negotiable. You will be eligible
for increases as you achieve specific training milestones which will be
discussed during the interview process.
· If
you are selected to join the training program you will be a SpecialtyCare
employee and will be eligible for SpecialtyCare’s benefits.
· Once
training in Nashville is complete you will be relocated to your new
area/market. Typically we cannot guarantee ahead of time the market that
you will be working in and you will need to be open to relocate anywhere we
offer service. Relocation reimbursement will also be allotted.
· You
will be expected to sign a three year training repayment agreement.
· You
will be expected to obtain CNIM certification at the completion of the training
program.
Position
Requirements
· Bachelor’s,
Master’s, or Doctorate degree in the life sciences, neuroscience, biology,
bio-engineering, or audiology is preferred.
· Ability
to work independently, be self-motivated and have a strong desire to learn.
· Ability
to keep up with a fast paced and independent learning environment.
· Excellent
communication skills are essential.
· Must
be able to work flexible hours as scheduled, including weekends and holidays,
and to be on-call as scheduled.
In Training You Will
Learn
Patient Setup
· Explain
test procedures to patient and explain to them your purpose in the OR. As you
are an advocate for the patient and you will monitor their Central Nervous
System, by performing tests while the patient is undergoing surgery. (Types of
Surgeries: Spine, Craniotomy, Thyroid, Vascular, Aneurism etc.)
· Measures
and accurately applies recording electrodes in a timely manner according
to the international 10-20 Electrodes Placement System. Prepare patient for
Neurophysiological monitoring by applying electrodes in the holding area and in
special circumstances in the OR suite.
IONM Equipment
· Calibrates,
evaluates and adjusts equipment, optimizing recording and stimulation
parameters, to acquire salient data and information.
· Sets-up
neurophysiological equipment properly located in OR following biomedical
electrical safety checks as needed, assembled with respect to reduction of
artifact.
Intraoperative
Monitoring
· During
surgery, interacts with surgical team and surgeons to provide interpretive data
regarding the patient’s neurological status.
· Recognizes
normal patterns, normal variants, and abnormal patterns; understands the
medical and pharmacological/anesthetic conditions that influence the recording
IOM modalities (e.g., EP, BAER, MEP etc.); understands the clinical
correlations between abnormal evoked potentials and various disease states.
· Communicates
to the surgical team neurophysiological changes with a technical description of
the on-going continuous data.
Documentation
· Displays,
prints and labels waveforms to hard copy and/or PDF file for archiving and/or
interpretation marking, measuring, and calculating information such as
latencies, voltages/amplitudes, and conduction times following established
SpecialtyCare guidelines and protocols.
