Qualifications:
 
Education:
  • The required level of education would be acquired during two years of an AMA approved curriculum of Ultrasound Technology including one year of ultrasound clinical technology.
 

      Experience/ Training:

  • Specific training in vascular ultrasound technology, RVT, RVS credentials or RN, LPN.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathologic processes, and aseptic techniques.
  • Requires a general knowledge of procedures followed in conducting ultrasonic examinations, as well as knowledge of TCD/CD/CD equipment utilized and advanced skills in using equipment. Requires experience normally acquired during six to twelve months of directly related work.
  • A moderate level of analytical ability required in the use of standard TCD/CD methodology for performing manual and computerized measurements during each TCD/CD study.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact with medical staff, patients, visitors, and other hospital employees.
  • Requires ability to stand, turn, and stoop while operating high technological instrumentation. Ability to assist patients by lifting or turning to achieve desired position for obtaining test results and lifting supplies and equipment.
 
Working Conditions:
 
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed.
  • The use of protective clothing such as surgical clothing, gloves, glasses and masks.
 

Physical Demands:

 
  • May require sitting or standing for long periods of time.
  • May require stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and bending at periodic times during a procedure.
  • Requires the use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, talk and hear; taste and smell.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Requires lifting and/or positioning patients.
  • Lifting supplies and equipment (less than 20 Lbs).
