Position: Cardiovascular Perfusionist
Job Duties:
1. Perform complex tests for diagnosis, treatment, and measurement, and monitor cardiovascular system functions alongside cardiologists during open heart surgery.
2. Initiate, monitor, manage, and wean from support, critically ill patients with the use of cardiac perfusion specific devices.
3. Utilize an intra-aortic balloon pump, ECMO pumps, cardiac surgery bypass pumps, I-STAT lab equipment, ventricular assist devices, and autologous blood processing.
4. Manage inventory for drugs and utilizing pharmacologic knowledge to administer medication for patients through cardiac perfusion specific devices.
5. Mentor, tutor, evaluate, and supervise Perfusion students.
6. Position is based out of Brentwood, TN HQ but telecommuting is permitted on a case-by-case basis.
7. TRAVEL: Unanticipated travel for conferences or clinical coverage within Midwest region of the U.S., not to exceed 4 trips annually as determined by business needs
Job Requirements:
Education Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Perfusion Technology, Cardiovascular Sciences, or closely related. Employer will accept foreign degree if in the same field.
Experience Requirements:
• 24 months of experience in job offered, Echocardiographer (CRCS), or closely related.
Special skills requirements:
1. Experience in operating and monitoring cardiovascular diagnostic specific devices, such as the Philips ultrasound imaging Epiq machine, placing and monitoring of ECG leads.
2. Experience in interpreting and creating preliminary medical reports including transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) and stress tests. Understanding of critical pathologic values used to form diagnoses.
3. Experience with cardiac diagnostic interpreting software related to the above procedures (Echo PACS).
4. Experience in the reconstituting and direction of administration of IV drugs to obtain optimal diagnostic results (Definity contrast agent, saline bubble studies).
5. Must have or be able to become Certified in the Practice of Clinical Perfusion from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
