SpecialtyCare's corporate office is located in Brentwood, TN, and while remote work is supported, occasional travel to the office for meetings or team-building events may be required. Hourly Wage Estimate: $15.00 - $22.00 (Several factors, such as specific skill set, education level, certifications and years of experience, are considered to determine actual compensation.)

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Identify and process patient and provider overpayments and credit balances to patient and insurance companies.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Research and resolve overpayment requests and credit balances
  • Identify billing errors to be corrected by coding team.
  • Research insurance medical policies and guidelines.
  • Respond to payer correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Communicate payment or denial trends to management in a timely manner.
  • Document all follow up efforts and communication within practice management system.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationship with team members

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Education: 
    1. One (1) year certificate from a college or technical school.
  2. Experience: 
    1. Three (3) years related experience and/or training 
    2. Equivalent combination of education and experience, acceptable.
  3. Knowledge and Skills: 
    1. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
    2. Good understanding of debits and credits and the billing process.
    3. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
    4. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
    5. Proficient with a computer and good knowledge and understanding of MS office programs, and email.  Experience working with PeopleSoft and JD Edwards helpful.
    6. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
    7.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
    8. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Ability to work a minimum of eight (8) hours per day and longer if needed according to workload.
  • Ability to work in a demanding, fast paced environment.
